Abstract: In this work we analyse, by methods of estimating cross-section, the influence of spatial effects and human capital in the conditional convergence of productivity (product per worker) of the economic sectors of Portuguese NUTS III, from 1995 to 2002. For data analysis, considering the statistic Moran's I, it appears that productivity is subject to positive spatial autocorrelation (the productivity of each region goes in a similar way to the productivity of neighbouring regions), especially in agriculture and services. The industry and eventually all the sectors show signs of being subject to positive spatial autocorrelation in productivity. Furthermore, it appears that the evidence of convergence, particularly in view of the concept of absolute convergence , is higher in industry. Taking into account the results of estimations, it is confirmed again that the evidence of convergence is higher in industry and it appears that the effects "spillovers" spatial "spatial lag" (capture spatial autocorrelation through out spatially dependent variable) and "spatial error "(capture spatial autocorrelation through the spatially lagged error term), and human capital, affect the convergence of productivity of various economic sectors of the Portuguese regions in the period considered.
