Job Description

The Department of Economics of the University of Verona is seeking to fill one Postdoc position in any field of Economics and Finance. The Department has been designated as a Department of Excellence for 2023-2028 thanks to the outstanding track record and future vision. This prestigious award provides substantial funding and resources to further strengthen the research in this critical field over the next 5 years. As a Department of Excellence, we are leading large-scale, transdisciplinary projects spanning mental health, aging, chronic disease, health equity, wellbeing, and more. Our researchers have access to new facilities, technology, PhD studentships, and support staff to drive innovation.

The research position is ideally meant for newly minted or close to completion PhDs. The appointment is initially for two years but may be extended based on performance and availability of resources. It is expected to start in Summer/Autumn 2024. The evaluation will be based on the scientific quality of the candidate and his/her potential in developing research. There is no teaching obligations and knowledge of Italian is not required. The salary is approximately € 35,000 gross per year. Generous tax breaks are available to candidates who have been residing outside of Italy.

The Department offers a vibrant research environment in the newly built campus of Santa Marta next to the city centre. Research conducted by the Department covers a wide range of topics, such as quantitative finance, behavioral and experimental economics, inequality and poverty, industrial organization, health economics, economic history, and statistical methods for economic analysis.
