Fintech Innovation and bank digitalization processes

In recent years, the banking system - like many other sectors - has been overwhelmed by new technological advances (digitization) and by the entry of new competitors from already existing financial sectors (shadow banking) or completely new sectors (FinTech) that have begun to erode parts of the traditional banking business. In this scenario it becomes crucial for banks to explore the feasibility of new business models that can evolve rapidly within technological innovation, while stimulating the development and growth of the economy. All this considered, it is also clear that current banking business models will not be able to provide sufficient profits in the near future. As a result, it is worth analysing the implications of Fintech on the bank's business models and defining the main drivers of change and organizational changes that can improve bank performance. As a result, the research is ambitious because the reality is today blurred and uncertain. The research group intends to identify, through a rigorous scientific methodology, the most successful strategies and the new intermediation processes.
