The Committee examines requests for opinions submitted by members of the Department of Economics (professors, researchers, research fellows, scholarship holders, and PhD students) concerning research protocols involving human subjects, excluding research in the medical field, and issues a decision of approval or non-approval.
The Committee provides an opinion when the research:
generates new data through the involvement of individuals (e.g., laboratory experiments, field experiments, online surveys, or interviews);
uses existing data that allows individuals to be identified

As provided for by Article 7, paragraph 1, of the University Teaching and Learning Regulations, the Joint Faculty-Student Committee performs the following functions:
a) monitors and oversees the educational offer, the quality of teaching, and the student support activities provided by academic staff; it also issues opinions on the establishment and discontinuation of degree programmes;
b) expresses its opinion on the consistency between the credits assigned to learning activities and the specific intended learning outcomes of the programmes;
c) prepares an annual report on the results of its monitoring, oversight, and evaluation activities, and submits it to the School or Department Council, as well as to the University’s Evaluation Unit (Nucleo di Valutazione) and Quality Assurance Office (Presidio della Qualità).
The Committee promotes, coordinates, and monitors the Academic programs offered by the Department.
The Presidents of the Degree Programme Boards are members of the Committee. The Chair of the Committee serves as the Department's Teaching Quality Assurance Officer and is a member of the University's Teaching Quality Assurance Committee.
The Committee's main responsibilities are:
Planning teaching activities and teaching workloads;
Coordinating the main activities assigned to individual degree programmes (e.g., monitoring the quality of courses, collecting data on incoming students and graduate employment outcomes);
Allocating funds dedicated to teaching activities;
Preparing the documentation required by the University.
The Committee's activities are supported by the Teaching Office, particularly with regard to the preparation of the academic calendar, the allocation and use of teaching facilities, the definition of teaching workloads, the identification of courses requiring external appointments, the activation of tutoring and supplementary teaching services, the organization of elective learning activities, and communications with students.
