Community Engagement

Community Engagement

The university’s third mission – social involvement and services for the community

The Department of Economics (DSE) promotes initiatives that connect academic research with the local territory, society, businesses, and institutions. The DSE carries out approximately 60 such initiatives each year. Activities range from scientific dissemination and participation in debates on current issues to the organization of local and international events and the enhancement of cultural heritage, contributing to the economic, social, and cultural development of the territory and community.

The main areas of intervention are the following:

Dissemination and current affairs
The DSE organizes events, conferences, webinars, and seminars on key topics such as inequality, circular economy, and financial education. Its members also participate in local and national television and radio programs on current issues. Activities also extend to social media, encouraging broad and accessible dialogue.
Economy, institutions, and business
The DSE promotes workshops and meetings that encourage entrepreneurship among students and strengthen collaboration between universities, institutions, and businesses. Special attention is paid to business innovation processes and economic, social, and environmental sustainability, creating a bridge between academic research, the local territory, and the productive system.
Economy, health, and well-being
Within the framework of the 2023–2027 Excellence Project, the DSE contributes to the development of the “Health and Well-being” database. This tool supports academic research and provides a concrete contribution to the planning of targeted public policies.
Economy and territory
DSE initiatives aim to enhance the local ecosystem, with particular attention to biodiversity and the sustainability of mountain areas. These activities contribute to the economic and environmental development of the territory, promoting connections between communities and research

The Department also promotes knowledge transfer through agreements, conventions, and third-party contracts, as well as through internships and student placement activities. On average, the DSE signs around 15 collaboration agreements each year.
