The master’s program is characterized by a general-purpose and international flavor, and covers such fields as economic theory and policy, business and management economics, fundamentals of European law and public economics, applied economics and econometrics. The analysis of real-world problems is particularly stressed.

The program trains students in theoretical and applied economics through course work, participation in seminars, and supervised research within a supportive environment. Activities are organized in order to stimulate the active and ongoing participation of the students, also through direct and personalized relationship with the teaching body.

MAGEC is devoted not only to students holding a bachelor’s degree in Economics. It is also a good match for students with background in political sciences, engineering, mathematics and statistics, willing to understand economic issues more in depth.

MAGEC graduates master the main theoretical and analytical tools of modern economics, and are able to critically interpret economic facts and independently work with real data. Their skill profile is especially suited for a managerial or research-oriented role in public or private organizations. The thorough training offered by the degree also allows MAGEC graduates to start a Ph.D. in Economics.

Learning outcomes
The Master's degree programme in Economics, entirely taught in English, aims to provide postgraduate training to future professionals able to work in the private and public sector, particularly expertise in the organisation of institution and firms operating in various international contexts. Thanks to the quality of teaching delivered in English, in accordance with the training standards set at European level, this programme is intended to prepare graduates for competing for leadership roles at European level.

The programme offers a broad curriculum, especially with regard to the methodological and practical aspects in the field of economics. Therefore, by the end of the programme, graduates will have acquired a command of the tools of economic theory, economic policy and public economy, together with the tools of mathematics-statistics and applied economics. Modules on business analysis tools and international law principles and institutions are also provided within the programme.

Graduates will acquire the mathematical and statistical tools and expertise necessary to use and analyse data. Moreover, graduates shall also acquire economic, theoretical and applied knowledge aimed at solving economic problems at local and international level both for institutions and markets. Graduates will also acquire administrative and business knowledge in order to identify and understand risk management problems and corporate governance issues.

In the first year, the programme offers a wide range of modules, such as microeconomics, public economy, analysis of strategic decisions, business and economic mathematics and econometrics, not to mention the legal aspects related to international economic legislation. Modules in the second year include an in-depth study of macroeconomics and finance, as well as some crucial aspects of business economics related to the analysis of international business and management and the assessment and management of investment and risk. Other modules will focus on the analysis of economic policy and public economics related to economic development, environmental and health economics, and the financing and evaluation of projects.
Job opportunities
Graduates will be able to work as analysts in the following areas: micro and macroeconomic analysis; economic, industrial and development analysis; investment analysis; financial evaluation and planning of investments; social policy analysis; public economics analysis; health economics analysis; management of highly-internationalised companies and institutions.

The programme enables students to acquire skills characterised by a strong quantitative and model-related approach, thus allowing the analysis of markets and firms in a national and international context through the advanced study of microeconomic, macroeconomics and public sector economics. The programme also includes the acquisition of skills related to theories and tools of economic analysis, industrial economics, local development economics, health economics and project financing and evaluation.

Thanks to the skills acquired that allow students to master theoretical analysis based on well-established theories and models in order to identify objectives, constraints and choices of individuals, firms and institutions, graduates will be able to apply successfully for positions in research as well as leadership roles as economic consultants and analyst in medium/large highly-internationalised companies or institutions.
Quantitative economic knowledge, a multidisciplinary approach and proficiency in the English language will be key elements for graduates, who will be able to confidently enter the labour market, particularly in those companies and national and international institutions that focus most on economic and financial analysis, policy and social analysis, and risk assessment issues.
